A little pricey but good food...definately need a reservation in season...
Enveloping diners in polished woodwork and soft lighting, this comfortable, private restaurant
is named for (believe it or not) the owner's blind dog. To that effect,
you'll find canine artwork, glass panels etched with dogs, and even a
photographic tribute right inside the front entrance. The food,
however, is head and shoulders above Alpo. The place is known for its
fantastic crab cakes, and you'll also find terrific steaks, a rich
meatloaf, and a variety of seafood, including cashew-crusted grouper
and prosciutto-wrapped Alaskan halibut. The scrumptious dessert list
includes brownies, bread pudding, and luscious ice creams. The sushi
bar offers more casual dining and all of your favorite rolls. Visiting
diners need to purchase a temporary membership.
We ate at their sushi bar & loved it! All of the food was excellent
- I'm not even a huge sushi person, but enjoyed everything we ordered.
Must order the vegetable tempura! This was the best I have ever had. If
they had been open for lunch we would have eaten here even more. Only
downside was our sushi chef seemed rather snotty & kept trying to
force drinks on us. We were quite satisfied with one drink apeice &
didn't need the haughty attitude. It was our first night in Park City
& he didn't seem very impressed with our tourist status; he even
walked away during our food preparation to speak with some locals! Even with the less than friendly service, we would return. The food really was excellent. This was our favorite dinner in PC.
I don't want to act like I am a sushi snob, but heck, I am a flight
attendantant, and I eat sushi at least twice a week all over the
nation. My man and I went out to celebrate the purchase of our first
condo at Blind Dog Sushi...a recommendation by a non-trusty person. We
could have eaten a feast at any other sushi restaurant for the price we
paid for the 3 orders of sushi and the one roll we got at Blind Dog
Sushi. We ate those and got the check. I have never seen such small
portions. We laughed when our $12 roll arrived. It was a tiny piece of
tuna wrapped in seaweed and rice and then flash fried. The result? A
fully cooked piece of tuna enveloped in crunchy fried rice that stuck
in our teeth. Usually when I order a pricey roll, I practically choke
on the size of each chunk. With this one, I had to ask myself if I had
just eaten a slice of a sushi roll or a pea from the edamame that we
had ordered. In addition, the slices of the fish in the sushi were the
smallest I have ever seen. Blind Dog also serves a non-sushi menu.
While eyeing the food on other tables on the way out, I was wishing we
ordered off of the other menu. Now that stuff looked good! |
