Although situated away from the crammed and uber-trendy Main Street
establishments, the venue offers an equally casual and sophisticated
environment. Dine at the copper-topped bar for quality people-watching
or cozy up to a table for traditional continental dishes, focusing on
Austrian and Swiss specialties. Everything from steak Diane to the
contemporary sashimi available and be sure to leave room for at least
one specimen of decadent dessert.
As Swiss nationals we were looking forward to some genuine Swiss
cooking, but were very let down. We were told afterwards that Adolph's
was once a bit hit and we can just say - it has gone down hill very
much. My Roesti (similar to Hash Browns) was soggy inside and burnt on
the outside. My meat was of low quality, overcooked and the sauce was
way too salty. My husband's Schnitzel's breading was soggy, the meat
also unappetizing and the accompanied sides tasteless. Our waiter also
knew virtually nothing about the food being offered. He did not know
how to say anything in Swiss German/ German or French, which is
something I would expect for a restaurant claiming to serve authentic
international cuisine - it belongs to the atmosphere. The chef also did
not come around and ask how the meal was, which is also expected in a
supposedly high level restaurant asking such high prices. The noisy
sports bar adjacent to the restaurant section did not offer a high
level atmosphere either. We left as fast as we could and our upset
stomaches through the night confirmed our negative views of the quality
of the food. We were most upset though that this restaurant markets
Swiss cuisine - giving Switzerland a bad image.
September 15, 2007 four of us dined out at Adolph's. Apart from one
meal of the four, the food was bland, poorly presented and very
expensive (for what was served -$30-40 for entrees alone). I would
highly recommend that you exhaust any other dining alternatives you
have - including Quizno's_ before wasting what will be a significant
amount of money at Adolph's. We left the restaurant feeling like we'd
been ripped off -we felt there was a huge discrepancy between the
quality of the meal and its price. |
